The Darent Pages And The Darent Suite Exhibition. 21 Oct - 6 Dec 2013

art@ketchum proudly presents John Davie's last visual project:
The Darent Pages and The Darent Suite.

The Pages is a series of mixed media work on paper reflecting on the life and work of 19th-century visionary painter, Samuel Palmer, when, as a young man, he was living and working in Kent, immersed in the deep, lush valley of the River Darent at Shoreham – Palmer's 'Valley of Vision'.

The Darent Suite follows the river's journey from its source at Westerham to the Thames Estuary at Dartford.

Painter, filmmaker and writer John Davie studied at Wimbledon, The Royal College of Art and The University of York. His academic career spanned 30 years. Exhibitions include: The Young Contemporaries London; Vaughn College, University of Leicester; The Park Gallery University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham Monkton Combe School Bath; Galleries at Reading, Sonning, The RWA Bristol. His work is in collections in The USA, Australia and Europe.

John died on 24th October 2012. This exhibition is to celebrate his life and work, with an anniversary tribute night on Thursday 24th October 6-8pm which will include a live performance of music especially composed by his very good friend Tim Whitehead to honour John.
